Lance Trumbull and Orlando Bloom

One of the most powerful Everest Documentaries ever to stun the world! “Lord of the Rings” Star, Orlando Bloom, took this project on because of the lasting effect it would have upon the heart.

One man’s dream is making it possible for many nations to gather on the stairway to peace. Lance Trumbull, the Director and Producer of “The Everest Peace Project,” is already capturing the world’s attention. How is this possible? How can one man’s vision create quite a stir? Viewed on ‘You Tube’  we can catch a glimpse of this man’s vision; however, watching the full length film available on DVD takes the viewer on an intimate journey to be remembered for all time!

How intimate is this journey? When millions of viewers see this footage and the transpiring of certain events, something amazing happens: the journey continues in the heart. How far will this journey take us? To answer this question we need to explore Lance Trumbull’s vision. Desiring to make an “action statement” that we can co-exist in peace and harmony, regardless of our differences or the challenges thrust upon us, Lance Trumbull sets in motion a statement that is believable.

The Dalai lama spoke of this man’s vision to be a “tremendous achievement.” Perhaps we can go further and add, “for mankind.” What is so powerful that can change the course of the world? Is it the human spirit? It only needs to start with one but in this case there are nine. What do nine climbers from different backgrounds, beliefs, cultures, and the tallest mountain in the world, have in common? All want to reach for the sky where freedom and peace reside.

If these climbers, representing their countries and diverse faiths, can indeed work as a team to help each other survive the grueling challenges of Mount Everest, what else would they be able to tackle together? Lance Trumbull knew where he wanted to go with this vision. There was already a script in his mind, but even a script could not tackle the cold, harsh, climatic changes of Everest.

The script’s highlight involves two of these nine climbers who represent countries at war with each other: Palestine and Israel. This would be the greatest challenge of all, especially as there would be nights spent in tents to acclimatize to the high altitude and to each other. This is truly where another journey begins, taking you right into the hearts of these climbers.  The script knows how to tug the heart as viewers learn of one of the climber’s professions: a soldier who still has several more years to fight for his country.

Fighting for world peace is something these climbers have in common. Team work and unity is the first step these brave climbers take, while inviting the rest of the world to take the next. Is it possible to move forward together? We may witness the soldier’s desire for peace who knows the unforgiving power of a gun.  In comparison, the climb up Mount Everest is, perhaps, an easier path to follow. Not many of us would be willing to take either step of endurance and survival just to tell our story. Instead, we welcome the one given to us, “The Everest Peace Project,” to mold to our hearts so it becomes our own.

This is a story of historic measure and is worth sharing. Be prepared to see some changes in the script where those “Oh No!” moments tug the heart. The sky took the script but gave back another. The film is worth watching just to see that new script unfold.

Ali and Dudu are team members of The Everest Peace Project’s Climb for Peace ( everest peace project Home Page). Together – along with several other people from various faiths they will climb Mt. Everest next spring. The idea is to show that experienced climbers with different beliefs and cultural backgrounds can come together for a 65 day Everest expedition and live, work, and depend on each other while doing something extraordinary: climbing Mt. Everest as a united team in the name of peace.

“People say that overcoming the age old issues of race and religion are problems that cannot be conquered – mountains that cannot be climbed. I disagree. By having an international Climb for Peace of Mt. Everest with people from different faiths and cultures (including Palestinian and Israelis), I want to show that the “Everest” we all face – our own personal mountain of fear, distrust, and intolerance can indeed be surmounted. By climbing the real Mt. Everest our “Peace Climbers” will show the world that through compassion, peace, and teamwork it is possible to overcome personal and cultural barriers no matter how difficult they may seem. This mountain can and will be climbed; and together our multi-faith team will give an inspiring message of peace, tolerance, and friendship for people to witness across the earth.” – Says Lance Trumbull – founder and expedition leader of The Everest Peace Project.

A 13-year-old American boy is set to attempt to climb Mount Everest, in an effort to be the youngest person to scale the world’s highest peak.

Jordan Romero has set off from Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, to the base camp on the Chinese side of the mountain.

He will begin his ascent there, along with his father and stepmother.

Jordan climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania aged 10 and wants to be the youngest person to climb the highest mountains on seven continents.

His father and stepmother have been with him on all his mountain climbs.

The current record for the youngest climber of Everest is held by Nepali Temba Tsheri, who was 16 when he reached the peak in 2001.

Jordan Romero has already climbed the highest peaks in every continent apart from Asia, although he is not planning to tackle the Vinson Massif in Antarctica.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do before I die – I just happen to be doing it at this age. I happen to be going for a world record. But I just want to climb it,” Jordan told the AFP news agency ahead of his Everest attempt.

The latest post on his website says: “It’s time to mobilise” and that the five-day drive to the Chinese base camp was about to begin.

There have been concerns about allowing somebody of Jordan’s age to make the ascent but he has said he will not take any unnecessary risks and will turn around if any problems arise.

Before he begins climbing, he will spend some weeks acclimatising at base camp.

Asked if, given the risks, a 13-year-old could make an informed decision to climb Everest, his mother, Leigh Ann Drake, told the BBC World Service that her son would be with his father the whole time.

She also said that Jordan was “not an adrenalin junkie”.

“He’s very quiet and focused and determined and he is not there to suffer loss. Everybody is very clear on this. Jordan’s safety, from the top of his head to the tip of his toes, is everybody’s number one priority.”

According to his mother, Jordan is: “taking his algebra book and some writing assignments” on his ascent.

“He’s going to have some down-time in those tents,” she said, “so why not take some books along?”
